“Optimasi Produksi Oksigen Pada Oxygen Plant 1”
ABSTRACT
Optimization is an action taken to obtain or achieve the best result from a
situation. In order to increase the oxygen production target at Oxygen Plant 1 at
PT Riau Andalan Pulp and Paper, an optimization of oxygen production was
carried out at this plant. To obtain optimal result, a good understanding and
ability of were needed to overcome the existing obstacles. The factors influenced
the optimization of oxygen production at oxygen plant 1 were increasing in flow
of gas air compressor, the changes in turbine nozzle openings, the changes in
reflux liquid nitrogen openings, and the changes in manual valve opening to
lower column (distillation column). Optimization of oxygen production in oxygen
plant 1 was carried out by analyzing the causes of the equipment which were not
working optimally, such as the air compressor, pre-cooling unit, expansion
turbine, and distillation column, then repairing these equipmenst. From the
analysis it was known that the air compressor was not optimal because the filter
and intercooler were dirty, the intercooler or aftercooler was leaking, and also
the BOV (Blow Off Valve) was always in open position. The pre-cooling unit was
not optimal because the expansion valve was clogged, and the freon condenser
often leaked. The expansion of the turbine was not optimal because the nozzle did
not match with the actual opening. The distillation column was not optimal
because the reflux liquid nitrogen opening was less.
