Analisis Potensi Energi Dari Landfill Gas Tpa 2 Muara Fajar Kota Pekanbaru
ABSTRACT
The population growth of Pekanbaru City which is increasing every year with the
growth rate of 2.86% in 2019 and the total increase in the population growth rate
from the previous year of 0.16% are the main factors for the increasing amount of
waste generation entering the MSWD 2 Muara Fajar Pekanbaru City. The garbage
piled up in landfills will have a process named degradation to produce Methane
gas (CH4), Carbondioxide (CO2), Nitrogen (N2), Oxygen (O2), Hydrogen (H2),
Ammonia (NH3) and Carbonmonoxide (CO). This gas contributes to the global
warming phenomenon but has the potential to be used as alternative energy. So
that, the total of waste generates in Pekanbaru City is the main data in this study.
The purpose of this study is to compares the estimation results of methane gas
emissions from landfilling activities at MSWD 2 Muara Fajar with the LandGEM
ver 3.02 software and the IPCC 2019 method, determines the level of CO2-eq
emissions, and analyzes the potential energy that can be generated from methane
gas so that it has no negative effects for the environment. Based on the estimation
results of LandGEM ver 3.02, total of methane gas emmisions from MSWD 2 Muara
Fajar reached the peak level of producing the highest amount of methane gas in
2049 are 23.110 Mg/year or 34.630.000 m3/year while the estimation results of the
IPCC 2019 method are 34.847 Mg/year or 48.560.479 m3/year in cubic meter
volume units. The total daily production of methane gas that produced by MSWD 2
Muara Fajar Pekanbaru City from 2018 until 2098 amounted to 2,950,356 -
3,380,312 m3/day can turn on for 590.071 to 676.062 gas stoves for 23 hours and
can be used as fuel for a Waste Power Plant with a total daily electricity power of
1,154,326.72 – 1,322,547.09 kWh which is supplied the daily electricity needs of
207,613 – 237,608 households in Pekanbaru City.
