Eksistensi Tanjak Melayu Sebagai Identitas Budaya Masyarakat Melayu Di Kota Pekanbaru
Tanjak is an abbreviation of the word ground that is stepped on, which means that if anyone who uses Tanjak means admitting that the land being stepped on is Malay land. The objectives of this research are 1) The origin of Tanjak Melayu as the cultural identity of the Malay community in Pekanbaru City. 2) to find out the values contained in Tanjak Melayu. 3) to find out the views of stakeholders on the existence of Tanjak Melayu in Pekanbaru City. 4) to find out the role of local governments and communities in preserving and maintaining the existence of Tanjak Melayu in Pekanbaru City. In this study the authors used qualitative methods. The results of this study are the origin of Tanjak Melayu starting from the time of the Malay Sultanate of Malacca, the use of Tanjak for the Malay community followed or was inspired by the way the Prophet SAW dressed at which time he used a head tie called a turban, because Malay society was identical with Islam. Then a head tie was made called Tanjak, then the use of Tanjak was continued in the days of the Malay kingdom which was used by the Sultan and his staff. Then there are the values contained in Tanjak Melayu, namely the value of maruah, the value of politeness, the value of beauty and the added value of the Tanjak, namely the economic value. Regarding stakeholder views on Tanjak Melayu, its existence must be maintained so that Tanjak in Pekanbaru City does not just disappear, because Tanjak is used as a symbol of the cultural identity of the Malay community. Apart from that, the role of local governments and communities in maintaining and preserving the existence of Tanjak Melayu is very important through cultural-themed activities so that these activities can be used as an effort to introduce, maintain and preserve Tanjak Melayu in Pekanbaru City.
