Tradisi Sihali Aek Bagi Masyarakat Desa Tipang Kecamatan Baktiraja Kabupaten Humbang Hasundutan
Tipang Village is one of the villages located in Humbang Hasundutan Regency, Baktiraja District which still carries out the tradition of agriculture, namely the sihali aek tradition. Sihali aek is a system that regulates irrigation in Tipang village. The purpose of this tradition is to drain water to agricultural areas. This study aims (1) to determine the background of the emergence of the sihali aek tradition in Tipang village, (2) to determine the process of implementing the sihali aek tradition in Tipang village, (3) to determine the function of the sihali aek tradition in Tipang village, (4) to determine the efforts what the community did to preserve the sihali aek tradition in Tipang village. In this study the authors used a qualitative method. Data were collected through observation, interview and documentation methods. Data analysis used 3 components of analysis, namely data reduction, data presentation and data verification. Starting from the village of Tipang, which was originally only dry fields and lack of water made it an agricultural village. The process of implementing the Sihali aek tradition has changed in practice and added by making cultural attractions. The implementation of the sihali aek tradition provides several functions or roles for the Tipang village community. Regarding efforts, it is clear that the local community has made opportunities for young people to participate in the implementation of the sihali aek tradition. The government also provides care, both morally and in providing facilities for the implementation of the magic tradition.
