Eufemisme Pada Berita Surat Kabar Tribun Pekanbaru

Euphemism on the news of the Pekanbaru Tribune newspaper. This research aims to describe the forms of euphemisms and the functions of euphemisms contained in the news of the Pekanbaru Tribune newspaper. In this research, the writer used descriptive qualitative method. The data in the research are in the form of news texts containing euphemisms contained in the news of the Pekanbaru Tribune newspaper. The data source is the Pekanbaru Tribune newspaper which was published from 3 January - 3 February 2020. The data collection technique in this study used documentation techniques reading and taking notes. Data analysis techniques in this research carried out by identifying, classifying, analyzing, and concluding data in the form of news texts containing euphemisms based on the form of euphemisms and determining the function of euphemisms contained in the Pekanbaru Tribune newspaper. The validity of the data using the theory of triangulation techniques. From the results of data analysis, it is known that there are 70 euphemistic data. The data consists of 1 abbreviated euphemism, 1 foreign term euphemisms, 2 paraphrased euphemisms, 56 word euphemisms, and 10 phrase euphemisms. There are 3 functions of euphemism found in this study, namely 50 data for politeness and comfort, 19 for disguising meaning, and 1 for reducing shyness.
