Kerjasama Unicef Dan Boyband Bts Dalam Kampanye Anti Kekerasan Anak Dan Remaja 2017-2019
This research study constructivism and collective identity formation about
South Korean soft power BTS that cooparate with UNICEF for an anti violence
campaign in 2017-2019. BTS boyband has a huge role for the nation’s identity
construction of South Korea that tries to distinguish themselves from the fascist
country of North Korea. Even when South Korea has become this hyper modern
country, children’s violence is still an issue specifically on disciplinary actions
and bullying. BTS then accept the offer for cooperation with UNICEF in
spreading awareness and norm construction about anti violence for kids and
teenagers as well as funding the #ENDViolence programme. BTS did their
contribution trough 3 music albums with anti violence themes, which 3 percent of
it sales will be donated to UNICEF. BTS team then designed merchandise to be
sold to their fans and all the money will be donated to the #ENDViolance
campaign. Because of BTS’s efforts to fund the global programme, United
Nations invited BTS for the annual general assembly for a new programme about
entrepeneurship education for millenial teenagers. BTS as the representative of
young generation and South Korea. This is a first for Asian celebrity to have a
strategy discussion in UN (usually its only Hollywood celebrities, example
George Clooney who is a UN messenger for human rights issues). The
phenomenone of politicized celebrity(celebrities who dive into political activities)
is not new. Although a lot of politic academics refuse to study this because they
think celebrities ruin the credibility of serious political discourse. When with the
development of the internet and social media, celebrities will be more involve in
world politics using their influence on the masses.
