ABSTRACT
This research was conducted in September 2020 with the aim of knowing the activities of fishermen in utilizing their free time and knowing how the income of fishermen is obtained when they use their free time other than fishing gear. The method used in this study is a survey method, namely by making direct observations to the object of research, while the determination of respondents in this study is all members of fishermen who use gombang fishing gear, totaling 30 fishermen. Based on the results of research that has been carried out in Tembun Village, Rangsang District, Meranti Islands Regency in utilizing free time, namely by doing foraging, merawai and raising livestock. Based on the income of fishermen obtained when using their spare time other than gombang fishing gear, namely netting and merawai an average of IDR1,233,667, while the average income obtained from gobang fishing gear is IDR1,980,333.
