Biologi Predator Eocanthecona Furcellata Wolff (Hemiptera: Pentatomidae) Dengan Mangsa Ulat Grayak Spodoptera Litura F. Di Laboratorium
ABSTRACT
Oil palm is a leading plantation commodity in Indonesia, but production has not been optimal due to pest attacks (UPDKS) which can reduce oil palm production, so prevention is needed. The high costs for insecticides and the negative impacts caused make it an alternative use of natural enemies, one of which is Eocanthecona furcellata, but it is constrained by the difficulty of providing continuous prey. The alternative prey that can be used is Spodoptera litura larvae. The purpose of this study was to obtain biological information on local Riau Eocanthecona furcellata which were given alternative prey for Spodoptera litura larvae. This study used a method of observing the growth and development of 100 larvae of Eocanthecona furcellata with Spodoptera litura being observed in the laboratory. The results showed that the fecundity of Eocanthecona furcellata was 114.81 eggs/female, hatching percentage was 71.80%. The life cycle of Eocanthecona furcellata passes 5 instars with the first nymph instar period of 3.97 days, second instar 3.91 days, third instar 3.91 days, fourth instar 3.76 and fifth instar 4.10 days. The life cycle of female imago is longer than that of male imago, namely 32.69 days and 24.50 days. Spodoptera litura can be used as an alternative prey in Eocenthecona furcellata predatory propagation.
