Evaluasi Polong Paling Banyak Pada Tanaman Kacang Hijau (Vigna Radiata L.) Generasi M6 Hasil Radiasi Sinar Gamma
ABSTRACT
Mungbean (Vigna radiata L.) production in Riau has been decreased every
year, this causes low productivity of mungbean. One of the many ways to improve
the plants genetic is radiation with gamma rays. Since 2013, evaluation and
selection of strains up to the fifth generation has been carried out and shows an
increase in the number of pods per plant compared to control plants. The purpose
of this study was to evaluate the largest number of pods of mungbean resulting
from gamma rays radiations in M6 generation. This study was conducted at
Biology garden Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Science, University of Riau
from August until November 2020. Planting is done using 5 strains of M6 and a
local strain of Kampar as control, which is each population planted in different
plots and each plant planted with 30 x 30 cm space between. The observed
characters were qualitative and quantitative characters in the vegetative and
generative phases. Data was analyzed with ANOVA and DMRT using SPSS
program. The result showed that M6-18-3-1(18) population is a superior character
with the character of the number of pods, number of primary branches, length of
pods, number of seeds per pod, number of seeds per plant and seed weight per
plant is the most superior of all populations in this study.
