Pengaruh Aktivator Hcl Terhadap Adsorben Limbah Padat Tandan Kosong Sawit (Tks) Pada Proses Adsorpsi Ion Logam Cu2+
ABSTRACT
The adsorption process of artificial Cu 2+ solutions was investigated using an adsorbent made from Oil Palm Empty Fruit Bunches (EFB). EFB is one of the largest solid wastes produced from agricultural activities which contain lignocellulose. The characterization used for physical activation and physical-chemical activation adsorbents is a FT-IR spectrophotometer. FT-IR analysis showed that in the physical activation EFB and chemical activation EFB there was a shift in wave numbers and the breakdown of functional groups. This shift in wave numbers shows that the functional groups present in EFB affect the activation process of HCl.This research aims study the effect of HCl concentration variations and contact time of activation on iodine number, methylene blue and surface area of the EFB and to study the effect of mass variations of EFB physical activation and physical-chemical activation on the adsorption process of Cu 2+ metal ions. In this study, the concentrations of HCl used were 2, 3 and 4 N with an activation time of 1, 3 and 5 hours. The results showed that the adsorbent with a concentration of 4 N and an activation time of 1 hour had the largest iodine number and surface area, namely 403.2 mg / g and 746.91 m2 / g, and the number and surface area of methylene blue is 19.841 mg / g and 74.010. m2 / g. The best adsorption capacity on both physical and chemical activation adsorbents occurred at a mass of 0.5 grams, namely 11.025 mg / g and 10.865 mg / g and removal efficiency of 79.33% and 75.67% at a mass of 6.5 grams.
