Pengaruh Media Tanam Dan Limbah Cair Pabrik Kelapa Sawit Terhadap Pertumbuhan Bibit Kelapa Sawit (Elaeis Guineensis Jacq.) Pada Pembibitan Utama (Main Nursery)
ABSTRACT
The growth of good oil palm seedlings depends on the availability of nutrients and organic matter in the growing media. Organic material that can be met is by utilizing palm oil mill effluent (LCPKS). Planting media is an important factor in supporting the growth of oil palm seedlings. Agricultural land in Riau Province is dominated by peat soils and Ultisols. Both types of soil are problematic in terms of nutrient content and availability, it is necessary to add organic fertilizers, one of which is palm oil mill effluent (LCPKS) to improve soil function by improving physical, chemical and biological properties. This study aims to determine the effect of the use of planting media by providing palm oil mill effluent, to determine the effect of planting media on the growth of oil palm seedlings and to determine the effect of providing oil palm mill effluent to the growth of oil palm seedlings in the main nursery. This research has been carried out at the Experimental Garden of the Faculty of Agriculture, Riau University, Bina Widya Campus Km 12.5, Simpang Baru Village, Tampan District, Pekanbaru. This research was carried out from July to November 2019. The research was carried out in a factorial experiment using asplit plot design witha completely randomized design pattern consisting of main plots and subplots. The main plot is planting media which consists of 2 levels, namely peat soil and Ultisol soil. Sub-plots were palm oil mill effluent (LCPKS) consisting of 6 levels, namely 0 l (control), 0.9 l, 1.8 l, 2.7 l, 3.6 l and 4.5 l. Parameters observed during the study were increase in plant height (cm), increase in number of leaves (strands), increase in wee diameter (cm), root volume (ml), seedling dry weight (g) and root crown ratio. The results showed that the use of peat growing media significantly increased all parameters except root volume. The provision of LCPKS with 1.8 l/seed had a significant effect in increasing all parameters. The use of different planting media by giving LCPKS had no significant effect on increasing plant height, increasing number of leaves, increasing weed diameter, root volume, seedling dry weight and root crown ratio, but there tended to be an increase in the use of peat growing media with LCPKS 1.8 l/seed compared to the use of peat growing media without LCPKS.
