Uji Aktivitas Antifungi Minyak Essensial Tea Tree (Melaleuca Alternifolia) Terhadap Jamur Dermatofit (Trichophyton Mentagrophytes Atcc R4608300 Dan Microsporum Canis)
ABSTRACT
Trichophyton mentagrophytes ATCC R4608300 and Microsporum canis are pathogenic fungi that can cause infection in humans. Tea tree essential oil has an antifungal effect against T. mentagrophytes ATCC R4608300 and M. canis. This study aims to determine the ability of tea tree essential oil to inhibit dermatophyte fungi and to determine the Minimum Inhibitory Concentration (MIC) of tea tree essential oil against dermatophyte fungi. Determination of the diameter of the inhibition zone was carried out using the well diffusion method and MIC determination was carried out by the liquid dilution method. The inhibition of tea tree oil concentrations at 1%, 3% and 5% against T.mentagrophytes ATCC R4608300 and M. canis were categorized as weak while the 0.1% concentration of tea tree essential oil did not show any inhibition. Ketoconazole as a positive control produced moderate inhibitory power against the tested fungi. The MIC of 5% tea tree essential oil against T.mentagrophytes ATCC R4608300 and M.canis was 1.25%.
Key words: antifungal, well diffusion, liquid dilution, fungal pathogens, tea tree oil.
