This research is entitled Semiotic Analysis in the Text of Abstinence for the Baturijal Society. This research is motivated by the prohibition contained in the text of the prohibition of the Baturijal community from the Baturijal Encyclopedia which is still preserved by the people who live in Baturijal. The purpose of this research is to find out the icons contained in the text of the abstinence of the Baturijal people, to know the index contained in the text of the abstinence of the Baturijal people and to find out the symbols contained in the text of the abstinence of the people of Baturijal. The method in this research uses descriptive qualitative method. Data collection techniques through documentation and note-taking techniques. The documentation technique is in the form of collecting data in the form of the text of the Baturijal community and then identifying it. Data analysis techniques are in the form of reading data, classifying data, selecting and checking data, grouping data based on icons, indexes, symbols, rechecking the data, then concluding the data that has been studied. The results of this research are icons in the form of (i) Abstinence if adjacent land is taken even if it is only an inch, later if we die the ground will crush us, (ii) Abstinence against our parents (parents), difficult to live. (iii) Do not let dogs enter the house, angels do not enter, (iv) Do not hit the cat, if it dies it will be difficult to transport the cat's fur. The indexes contained in this study are (i) Abstinence from eating too full, distended stomach, (ii) Abstinence from sitting on gravestones, later you can get sick, (iii) Abstinence from speaking dirty in the forest, later reprimanded, (iv) Abstinence from sitting on a pillow. , boils tail. The symbols contained in this study are (i) Abstinence
