Pengaruh Ion Perak Terhadap Transformasi Birnessite Menjadi Cryptomelane Dan Sifat Katalitik Terhadap Degradasi Metilen Biru
ABSTRACT
Birnessite and cryptomelane are typical layered and tunnel manganese oxides and both can be used as a heterogeneous catalysts for the degradation of organic wastes using heterogeneous Fenton reaction. The aim of this study was to synthesize birnessite and cryptomelane using 5 variations of reflux times (1, 3, 6, 9 and 12 hours) with precursors of KMnO4 and C6H12O6 using Ag+ (AgNO3) as dopant sources (1, 5 and 10% w/t). The doping approach is carried out by mixing all the reactants including doping ion (in one reaction system). The as-synthesid Ag-birnessite-cryptomelane and Ag-cryptomelane were characterized using X-ray diffraction (XRD) and Brunauer, Emmet And Teller (BET). The Ag-cryptomelane with Ag 1% within 12 hour reaction times displays highest surface area of 23.560 m2/g. The as-synthesized catalyst was then applied for the degradation of methylene blue (MB) using H2O2 as an oxidant. Ag-birnessite-cryptomelane 1 hour 1% is a catalyst with a maximum degradation of 75,44% for 120 minutes of degradation times.
