Pengaruh Waktu Hidrotermal Pada Sintesis Zsm-5 (Zeolite Socony Mobile-5) Dari Kaolin : Menggunakan Templat Peg (Polyethylen Glycol)
SUMMARY
Kaolin as natural minerals contains silica and alumina therefore it is potential as basic material for synthesizing process of ZSM-5. This study aimed to carry out synthesizing zeolite from kaolin with addition PEG template by setting hydrothermal times from 12 until 48 hours at a hydrothermal temperature of 140 °C. ZSM-5 was synthesized in molar composition 1SiO2: 0.0067Al2O3 : 0.88 NaOH : 8H2O : 0.07PEG. Synthesis products were analized by XRD and infrared spectrophotometry (FTIR). Analized by XRD showed that no crystals ZSM-5 had yet been formed. Analyzed with FTIR spectroscopy on the variation of ZSM-5 synthesized in 12, 24 and 48 hours were many functional groups including T-OH hydroxyl groups (Si-OH / Al-OH), TO groups (O-Si-O / O-Al-O) and pentacil group of ZSM-5. The surface acidity of the ZSM-5 is 1.8 mmol/gram. This study shows that time has an effect on increasing the cristallinity of zeolite.
