The Office of Social Empowerment, Women's Empowerment, Child Protection,
Population Control and Family Planning (P3AP2KB) of Meranti Islands Regency is an
institution tasked with overcoming and prospering the social problems of the community, in
this case especially violence against women and children in the Meranti Islands Regency.
This study aims to: (1) determine the role of the P3AP2KB Social Service in Meranti Islands
Regency in handling violence against women and children in Meranti Islands Regency. (2)
knowing the inhibiting factors experienced by the P3AP2KB Social Service of Meranti
Islands Regency in handling violence against women and children. The theory used in this
research is the Concept of Role and Coordination Theory. While the type of research used is
qualitative with the type of descriptive research. The data collection technique used during
conducting the research is by means of interviews and documentation. This research was
conducted at the P3AP2KB Social Service of Meranti Islands Regency.
The results of this study indicate that the role of the P3AP2KB Social Service Office
of Meranti Islands Regency regarding the handling of acts of violence against women and
children is considered to have played a good role but is not fully optimal. This is indicated
by the lack of supporting facilities and infrastructure in handling victims of violence caused
by limited budget and human resources. Furthermore, the problem of sectoral ego and the
problem of the access point taken is also an inhibiting factor for the P3AP2KB Social
Service officers in outreaching cases that occurred in the Meranti Islands Regency.
