Pola Pertumbuhan Dan Kebiasaan Makan Ikan Gabus (Channa Striata Bloch, 1793) Di Danau Teluk Petai Kabupaten Kampar Provinsi Riau
ABSTRACT
During the rain, water flow and increased water surface as well as carrying
materials including the snakehead and small fishes to the Teluk Petai lake. If there
is no rain, however, there is no materials supply from the river. As the availability
of food resources during the high and the low water level in the lake is different,
the type of food as well as the length-weight relationship of the Channa striata
might be different. To understand the length-weight relationship and the type of
food present in the stomach of the fish, a study was conducted on November-
Desember 2020. Samplings were conducted 4 times, in the 1st and 3rd weeks of
November (low water surface) and in the 1st and 3rd weeks of December (high
water surface). The fish was captured using bamboo traps, measured and the food
type present in the stomach was identified and weighed. The Preponderance Index
was calculated. Results shown that there were 88 fishes (50 males and 38 females)
captured. The growth pattern of fish captured during low water surface was
isometric (b=2.989, condition fsactor 1.05), while the fish captured during high
water surface was positive allometric (b= 3.176 and 1.07 respectively). C. striata
captured during low water surface ate less fish (IP 60.51 %) and more insects and
plant materials (IP 33.72% and IP 5.77%), while the fish captured during high water
surface ate more fish (IP 75.28%) and less plant (IP 4.07%) and insects (IP 20.64%).
