Analisa Sifat Magnetik Dan Ukuran Partikel Pasir Alam Sungai Rokan Disintesis Dengan Ball Milling
ABSTRACT
The research has been done concerning on particle size transformation and
magnetic properties of the natural sand Rokan River, Riau Province. The natural
samples of Rokan River were separated among magnetic and non-magnetic
particles using Iron Sand Separator, the result of separation was called ISS
product. ISS product was being done ball milling by 1,5 cm sized iron ball with
the variation time of 30, 60, 80, 100 hours. The results from ball milling were
separated then by using NdFeB magnets (Neodymium Iron Boron), and then it
was called BM product. The magnetic susceptibility of ISS and BM products is in
the range of 3135,774 x10-5 to 7140,600 x10-5 and 13807,268 x10-5 to 20758,293
x10-5, the magnetic susceptibility of ISS and BM products were obtained based on
the magnetic induction and total magnetic induction of the solenoid. The results of
the Vibrating Sample Magnetometer (VSM) test showed coercivity of 117,52 Oe
and 227,34 Oe which was obtained by ball milling results of 30 hours and 100
hours, respectively. The remanent magnetization values obtained 1,15 emu/g and
0,5 emu/g, the saturation magnetization value obtained 1,3 emu/g and 0,6 emu/g.
The results of the Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM) test showed that the
particle size transformation ball milling for 30 and 100 hours were 231 nm and 96
nm respectively.
