Pembuatan Elektroda Karbon Dari Biomassa Kulit Petai (Parkia Speciosa) Dengan Variasi Konsentrasi Aktivator Koh Untuk Aplikasi Superkapasitor
ABSTRACT
Synthesis of carbon electrode based on petai peel biomass has been succesfully
made using a variation of concentration of KOH activator. The synthesis was
started by drying the samples under the sun ray, and then drying them using an
oven at temperature of 110° C then the samples entered the pre-carbonization
process on 250° C. The samples were mashed then with ball milling and applied
chemical activator. This research focused on variations in the concentration of
chemical activator using KOH. The concentrations of KOH were 0.1 M, 0.3 M,
0.5 M and 0.7 M. The carbon powder was formed using hydraulic press then
entered N2 carbonization process at temperature of 600°C and CO2 physical
activation at temperature of 850°C. The samples were characterized by measuring
density, surface morphology, elemental composition, crystallinities degree, and
electrochemical characterization with specific capacitance, specific energy and
specific power. Supercapacitor cells exhibit specific capacitance those are 185.64
F/g, 202.73 F/g, 264.89 F/g, 207.14 F/g. The optimum concentration of the
sample is at 0.5 M with specific capacitance of 264.89 F/g, 36.79 Wh/kg energy
density, and 132.57 W/kg power density.
