Nilai Taksonomi Stomata Citrus (Rutaceae) Di Pekanbaru, Riau

Citrus (Orange) is one of the important plantation commodities in
Indonesia. Oranges have a high morphological variation that may cause
taxonomic problems. One of important taxonomic evidence is the characteristics
of stomata. This study aimed to investigate stomatal characteristic of Citrus from
Pekanbaru, Riau Province. The sampling was carried out using the exploration
method. The stomatal preparations were prepared using replica methods and
paradermal incisions. The characteristics of stomata were described, scored, and
analyzed using the NTSYS program. A total of 10 Citrus species were identified
in this study. The results showed a type of hypostomatic stomata for all types of
Citrus with kidney-shaped guard cells. The variations were found on size and type
of stomata. The similarity coefficient values based on 14 stomatal characters
range from 0.33 - 0.86. The stomatal characteristic in this study gave an important
evidence for taxonomic study of Citrus.
