Induksi Tunas Dari Eksplan Tunas Tembesu (Fagraea Fragrans) Dengan Penambahan Ekstrak Jagung
Tembesu (Fagraea fragrans) is a family Loganiaceae including high value
timber species that have advantages in terms of ecology and economy. Increasing
demand for Tembesu wood, high use intensity results in unbalanced
overexploitation with inadequate planting, so that the existence of Tembesu is
increasingly threatened. Conventional propagation of Tembesu has several
problems so that in vitro propagation is used to overcome this. The purpose of this
study was to determine the effect of corn extract on the induction of Tembesu
shoots and to determine the best maize extract concentration for the induction of
Tembesu shoots. This research was conducted at the Integrated Laboratory,
Department of Biology, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, The
University of Riau from December 2019 to March 2020. This study used a
randomized block design (RBD) with 5 treatments, namely control, 1 mg/L BAP,
(50, 75 and 100 mg / L) corn extract on MS medium for 40 days. The results of
this study showed that the administration of 50 mg / L of corn extract gave the
best response to the survival rate of 62,5%, the percentage of shoot formation was
37,5%, the time the shoots appeared 17 days and the number of shoots was 3. The
highest number of leaves was found in the administration of 50 mg/L 4 leaves.
Key words : Tembesu (Fagraea fragrans), additional organic compounds, in vitro,
