“Penerapan Root Cause Analysis Dalam Penanganan Waste Of Board Defects Untuk Boxes Pada Mesin Corrugator Di In House Packaging : Kontrol Dan Minimalisasi”

ABSTRACT
Boxes and wrappers are the main thing in the paper packaging industry. Boxes are
first produced in board form by corrugator machines for 4-5 minutes. The problem
that happens during the production of boards for the purposes of boxes on
corrugator machines is waste of board defects. The high waste of board defects has
an impact in the form of frequent downtime on corrugators, delayed cutting of
boards into boxes in Die Cutter, and the peak delivery of boxes products to
customers is also delayed. Based on the observations, there are 4 causes of waste
of board defects, namely miss register, cracking, top curling, and krepes. The
method used is Root Cause Analysis with 5 Why Analysis technique to find the root
cause of defect and pareto for analysis of the main factors causing defect in
Corrugator. Based on the results of the average calculation analysis for production
data June until November 2020 obtained 5.520% 0.921% ̧ followed by pareto
diagram 72% and 84% for miss register and cracking as the main factors causing
waste of defects on the production board for the purposes of boxes in the IHPCorrugator
Area. Corrective actions that can be applied in the In House Packaging
Corrugator Area for these 2 main causes are visual control in the form of sticking
standard stickers as a reference operator in working The contribution of PPC team
and RMP team is required in terms of effective production schedule arrangement
and purchase of good quality raw materials to prevent waste of defects from before
production.
