Hubungan Pengetahuan Dengan Persepsi Mahasiswa Mengenai Lesbian, Gay, Biseksual Dan Transgender (Lgbt) Di Universitas Riau
The phenomenon of behavior Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and
Transgender (LGBT) is a phenomenon that is increasing in number every year.
Deviant sexual behavior itself arises based on a deviant sexual orientation. The
vulnerable group for this phenomenon is the students. The trigger factor for the
occurrence of LGBT is knowledge and perception. Lack of knowledge about
LGBT among students can lead to misperceptions of LGBT behavior. Purpose:
The aim of this study was to determine the relationship between knowledge and
student perceptions of LGBT behavior at the University of Riau. Methods: This
study used a descriptive correlation design with approach cross sectional. The
research sample was 390 respondents who were taken using a consecutive
sampling technique. Collecting data using a questionnaire that has been tested for
validity and reliability. The analysis used is univariate and bivariate analysis using
test chi-square. Results: The results of the univariate analysis showed that more
than half of the respondents were female (74.1 %), the majority of the respondents
were 19 years old (37.7%), and the majority of respondents were the 2020 class
(74.4%). Students' knowledge of LGBT is in a good category (89.5%), and more
than half of the respondents (52.3%) have a positive perception of LGBT and
consider LGBT a deviant behavior. The results of the bivariate statistical test
showed a relationship between knowledge and students' perceptions of LGBT (p
values 0.000 ≤ alpha 0.005). Conclusion: There is a significant relationship
between knowledge and student perceptions of LGBT. Suggestion: Riau
University students can gain a lot of knowledge related to LGBT and it is
necessary to hold counseling and seminars on LGBT at Riau University.
