Hubungan Durasi Penggunaan Gadget Pada Malam Hari Terhadap Kejadian Excessive Daytime Sleepiness (Eds) Pada Mahasiswa Fakultas Keperawatan Universitas Riau
Using gadgets before going to bed at night can decrease sleep
deprivation because using gadget until midnight. Sleeping late at night and short
sleep duration will interfere sleep quality and will cause sleep problems, one of
them is Excessive Daytime Sleepiness (EDS). EDS is a condition which someone
experiences excessive sleepiness during the day. The purpose of this research was
to determine the correlation between the duration of using of gadgets at night with
incidence of Excessive Daytime Sleepiness (EDS) in nursing students at the
University of Riau. Methods: This research use a correlation analytic design with
a cross sectional approach. The research was done with 242 sample of FKp
students at the University of Riau using the proportional stratified random
sampling technique. The measuring instrument used is a questionnaire. This
research used analysis univariate and bivariate analysis using Chi-Square test.
Results: The results of the bivariate statistical test showed that there was a
correlation between the duration of using gadgets at night with the incidence of
Excessive Daytime Sleepiness (EDS) with students of the Faculty of Nursing,
University of Riau with p value (0.007) < α (0,05). Conclusion: There is
correlation between the duration of using gadgets at night with the incidence of
Excessive Daytime Sleepiness (EDS) in students of the Faculty of Nursing,
University of Riau. We expected that students can control the use of gadgets,
especially at night in order to prevent the incidence of EDS.
