Sejarah Perkebunan Gambir Di Kabupaten Lingga (1970-2015)
Plantations in Indonesia has been known since the arrival of the Dutch colonial in Indonesia Although the glory of gambir in riau islands ended in 1970, but for Lingga Regency the success of gambir plantations persisted in that year, evidenced by one of the Tioghoa residents named Hainan opened gambir ward in Lingga Regency located in Kudung Village. The method used is the historical research method. According to Louis Gottschalk, the historical method is the process of critically testing and analyzing records and relics of the past. With the method of history can also be reconstructed as many events as the human past. Entering the 20th century, around the 1930s began to occur a decline gambir. But gambir remained one of the export comuditi from this area until 1970. The year 1970 to 2006 was a profitable year for gambir plantations owned by Mok ciu keng located in Daik Lingga and owned by Ameng in Dabo Singkep Lingga with an area of about 9 hectares according to data from the Lingga district plantation office. In 2006 to 2015 Gambir production is increasingly decreasing due to the large cost of production and lack of demand. After the end of gambir heyday in Lingga, especially from 1970-2015, Lingga people are more interested in fishery business, this is due to the complicated process of making gambir, low wages, and marketing that does not clearly make people turn to other professions.
