Efisiensi Penyerapan Bubuk Limbah Kulit Nangka Yang Dimodifikasi Dengan Ca-Alginat Sebagai Adsorben Metilen Biru
Jackfruit peel waste from the production of jackfruit chips in Rimbo Panjang,
Kampar, Riau is still wasted and has not been used optimally. From several
studies it is known that jackfruit peel waste can be used as an adsorbent. To
increase the adsorption ability, an activation process was carried out with NaOH
and continued with modification using Ca-alginate. This study aims to determine
the optimal absorption efficiency of methylene blue from jackfruit peel adsorbent
modified with Ca alginate through the parameters of adorben dose and contact
time. Samples were characterized using FTIR, SEM-EDS and UV-Vis. The
results of the study through measurements with UV-Vis spectrophotometer
obtained that the surface area of the non-activated adsorbent (43.837 m2.g-1) was
better than that activated using NaOH (25.422 m2.g-1), which showed that the
activator of Sodium Hydroxide (NaOH) not suitable for activation of the analyzed
jackfruit peel powder samples. The results of the optimal absorption efficiency of
the modified adsorbent were obtained at 92.43% at a dose of 1.4 g with a contact
time of 90 minutes.
