Sintesis Dan Uji Toksisitas Senyawa N'1,N'3-Bis ((E,E)-4-Bromobenziliden)Malonohidrazid
Hydrazone is a class of organic compound with the structure R1R2C=NNH2.
Hydrazone has an azomethine group (-NHN=CH-), which is an aldehyde and
ketone derivative, in which the oxygen atom is replaced by an =NNH2 group. The
purpose of this study was to synthesize the compound N'1,N'3-bis
((E,E)-4-bromobenziliden)malonohydrazid and to determine the toxicity of the
compound using the BSLT method. This compound was synthesized using the
method of heating and stirring (reflux) at 50-60°C. Synthesis of the target
compound using reflux equipment because the reaction for the formation of this
compound DB-4Br requires stirring using a stirrer and heating at a temperature of
50-60°C so that the reaction runs quickly. The choice of a temperature of 50-60°C
is used because if a higher temperature is used, the compound will be damaged or
decomposed, whereas if a lower temperature is used, the reaction will take longer
or the compound will not react because it is less reactive. The purity of the
compound was determined using a TLC test, melting point measurement, and
HPLC analysis. The structure of the synthesized compound was confirmed
through the analysis of spectroscopic UV, FTIR, NMR, and HRMS. The result of
this research is that the compound DB-4Br was successfully synthesized with a
weight of 1.254 g and a yield of 93.10 %. The toxicity of compound DB-4Br was
evaluated by the Brine Shrimp Lethality Test (BSLT) method with shrimp larvae
(Artemia salina Leach). The LC50 value obtained was 59.74 μg/mL. So it can be
concluded that the synthesized compounds are toxic with moderate levels of
toxicity because the LC50 values are >1 and
