Uji Aktivitas Fotokatalitik Mno/Abu Layang Dalam Mendegradasi Zat Warna Metilen Biru
Water pollutions due to dye effluents have been considered as a major
environmental issues. Dyes usually have very complex structures, which are
difficult to degrade by biological processes. Photocatatalytic method has been
regarded as an effectively method for the degradation of dyes from aqueous
solution. In this study, the composite MnO/fly was prepared and studied as well as
proved as the better photocatalytic material than single counterpart for the
degradation of methylene blue (MB). The material was prepared by one-pot
synthesis using sol-gel method. The XRD results indicated the presence of MnO
within fly ash. The maximum degradation of MB was achieved by optimation of
reaction parameters such as pH, concentration of MB, concentration of composite,
and reaction time. The results indicated that the composites are able to
significantly degraded methyle blue at pH 3.00, 5.14, 7.00, 9.00 dan 11.00.
Although the increase of catalyst concentration seems to enhance degradation rate
but the amount of MB being degrade was less significant. Using the optimum
condition, the maximum degradation of MB was 99.74% obtained when 25 mg of
composite, 50 ppm MB for 120 minutes of degradation time were applied in this
experiment.
