Tradisi Indang Di Kanagarian Lurah Ampalu Kecamatan VII Koto Sungai Sarik Kabupaten Padang Pariaman

Indonesia is made up of several ethnic groups, religions, and races that differ in each region. Culture that is part of people’s lives has existed in different regions and has its ownvalue through its people. Indang art is a variety of typical art beloging to the coastal or coastal communities of West Sumatera. The rise of indang art coincided with the development of Islam in Minangkabau, especially in Pariaman. On this basis, indang art is used as a means of developing Islamic teachings by scholars and teacher in Surau so that the community considers it as Surau art. The purpose of writing in this study is to know the origin of the Indang tradition, to know the procces of implementation of the indang tradition, to know the values in the indang tradition and to understand the development of the indang tradition. The method used in this study is qualitative. The research site is in Korong Kabun Cimpago, Padang Pariaman Regency. This research was conducted from the inception of the title of this submitted study until this thesis was completed. Data collection techniques used are documentation techniques, literature techniques, interview techniques and observation techniques. As a result of this research, the Kanagarian Lurah Ampalu community still continues to practice the indang tradition and preserve it for the next generation of young people, so that this tradition is not lost with time. The conclusion of the results of this study is that initially the tradition of indang to spread Islam and convert it into art in this time.
