Kekuatan Putus (Breaking Strength) Dan Kemuluran (Elongation) Tali Daun Nenas Yang Dibuat Dengan Teknik Pemilinan Dengan Perendaman Ekstrak Daun Salam (Syzygium Polyanthum)
ABSRTACT
This research was conducted in November 2021 at the Fishing Equipment
Materials Laboratory, Department of Fisheries Resources Utilization, Faculty of
Fisheries and Marine Affairs, University of Riau. The purpose of this study was to
determine whether there was an effect on the breaking strength and elongation of
the pineapple leaf rope when soaked with bay leaf extract. The method used in
this research is the experimental method. Where the researchers directly made the
pineapple leaf rope by twisting it and tested its breaking strength.
One of the advantages of using natural fiber as a fishing gear is that it has
a good sinking speed because it has good water absorbing properties. Pineapple
(Ananas comosus L.) has many benefits in terms of its fruit and leaves as raw
material for making paper, yarn and textiles. From the results of the research
conducted, the value of the breaking strength of the pineapple leaves before and
after soaking the bay leaf extract was 1.25 kgf and 2.02 kgf. For the value of the
elongation of the pineapple leaf rope before and after soaking the bay leaf extract,
they were 18 mm and 17.1 mm, respectively. Based on the results of this study, it
can be concluded that the breaking strength of the pineapple leaf rope soaked in
bay leaf extract is higher than that of the pineapple leaf rope that is not soaked in
bay leaf extract. However, for the elongation value of the pineapple leaf rope
before soaking the bay leaf extract was higher.
Based on statistical calculations using the T test, it was found that the Thit
value of the breaking strength of the pineapple leaves before and after soaking the
bay leaf extract was 0.37 smaller than Ttab 2.10092. Meanwhile, the Thit value of
the elongation of the pineapple leaf rope before and after soaking was 0.32
smaller than Ttab 2.10092.
