Gaya Bahasa Retoris Dan Kiasan Dalam Wacana Pandemi Covid-19 Di Media Sosial Instagram
Researcheran this is aimed at identifying and outlining the types of rhetorical
and figurative language styles on Covid-19 discourse on Instagram social media. The
spread of Covid-19 in Indonesia is getting longer and wider to various regions. The
Indonesian government began to appeal to the public to stay at home to stop the
spread of the virus. The government appealed to the public through various mass
media either print media or online media. One of the online media used is Instagram.
The type of research in this study is qualitative by using descriptive analysis methods.
The data source of this study was obtained from Instagram. The data in this study are
Covid-19 related writings and use rhetorical and figurative language styles in the
Covid-19 Pandemic discourse on Instagram. Data analysis techniques of this study
namely reading techniques and recording techniques. Later, the data are analyzed by
using descriptive analysis techniques. The results of the study were found to be
eleven types of rhetorical language styles in the Covid-19 pandemic discourse on
Instagram namely alliteration, assonance, anastrophism, apophasis, asindeton,
euphemism, periphrasis, erothesis, hyperbole, paradox, and oxymoron. The types of
figurative language styles found are 6 types namely metaphor, personification,
synekdoke (totem pro parte), hypalase, irony, cynicism, and satire.
