Hubungan Sikap Keluarga Dengan Upaya Keluarga Dalam Membantu Penderita Diabetes Melitus Mengendalikan Kadar Gula Darah Selama Pandemi Covid-19
Family have a major role in maintaining health and assisting in
treatment and control of blood sugar level for people with Diabetes Mellitus
(DM), especially during the Covid-19 pandemic. The family’s attitude and
presence are needed as effective intermediaries in carrying out health efforts for
people with DM, including meal planning, exercise planning, drug management,
education, and Covid-19 prevention. This study aims to determine the relationship
between family attitude and family effort in helping people with DM to control
blood sugar level during the Covid-19 pandemic. Method: This study used
descriptive correlation design with a cross sectional approach. The research
sample was family members with DM in the working area of Rejosari Health
Center as many as 69 respondents, which were taken based on inclusion criteria
using purposive sampling technique. The study used questionnaire that has been
tested for validity and reliability. The analysis used was univariate and bivariate
with chi-square test. Result: A total of 35 respondents (50.7%) had a positive
attitude and 39 respondents (56.5%) made a good effort in helping people with
DM to control blood sugar levels. Statistical test results obtained p value (0.001) <
alpha (0.05) with an OR value are 6.188. Therefore, statistically there is a
relationship between family attitude and family effort in helping people with DM
to control blood sugar levels during the Covid-19 pandemic. Conclusion: Attitude
is one of the determining factors of family effort in helping people with DM to
control blood sugar levels during the Covid-19 pandemic.
