ABSTRACT
The transmission system is a system that is often affected by direct lightning
strikes caused by objects from high transmission towers and influenced by the
climate area which the object is placed. Therefore, a protection system from
lightning strikes is needed, one of which is by using one or two ground wires
located above the phase wire, then this ground wire is grounded through the
tower body using a resistance planted under the tower leg. If there is a back flashover
caused by a direct lightning strike at the top of the tower, then what must be
considered is to reduce the resistance at the foot of the tower by increasing the
size of the electrode so that it can reduce the arm voltage so that it does not touch
the insulator impulse voltage.
