Aktivitas Anti Bakteri Ekstrak Anggur Laut (Caulerpa Lentillifera) Terhadap Bakteri Escherichia Coli Dan Bacillus Cereus

Sea grapes are a type of green algae that have not been widely used and
are included in seaweed. Seaweed is reported as edible algae, has bioactive
substances such as anti-bacterial, anti-fungal, anti-tumor, and can be used to treat
high blood pressure and goiter. This study aimed to determine the antibacterial
activity of sea grape extract (Caulerpa lentillifera) against Escherichia coli and
Bacillus cereus bacteria. The research method for the preparation of sea grapes is
by cleaning from all impurities so that sea grapes are free from all impurities, then
extracted with n-hexane, ethyl acetate and methanol solvents with concentrations
of 2, 4, and 6%, then analyzed descriptively. The test parameters were yield,
phytochemical and antibacterial activity and the diameter of the inhibition zone.
The results showed that Caulerpa lentillifera sea grape extracted with n-Hexane
as a solvent produced an average yield of 0.36%, 0.39% ethyl acetate and 0.42%
methanol. The results of the phytochemical identification test were positive for the
presence of phenolic compounds, steroids/triterpenoids, flavonoids, and saponins.
Hexane, ethyl acetate and methanol extracts were classified as having antibacterial
activity against Escherichia coli and Bacillus cereus bacteria. The concentration
of 6% hexane solvent was most effective in inhibiting the growth of Escherichia
coli and Bacillus cereus bacteria, with zones of inhibition 9.65 ± 1.06 mm and
9.07 ± 1.02 mm, respectively. Antibacterial extract of sea grapes (Caulerpa
lentillifera) with solvents of hexane, ethyl acetate and methanol were equally
effective in inhibiting the growth of Escherichia coli and Bacillus cereus bacteria.
