ABSTRAK
Since ancient times the existence of the Kampar River has provided economic benefits
for the community, including in the fishing business. One of the fishing gear used by Indonesian
fishermen is a trap. This study aims to determine the effect of different types of bait on bottom
trap catches in the waters of the Kampar Kiri river, Pangkalan Kerinci District, Pelalawan
Regency, Riau Province. The bait used in the form of two vegetable baits and no bait.
Comparison of catches was carried out on coconut meat bait (U1) and oil palm bait (U2) and
without bait (TU). The method used in this study is an experimental method in the form of a
completely randomized design (CRD) with an error rate of 5% with f table 5.14. The analysis of
the f test (Anova) showed that there was no significant difference in the catch. The results
showed that the oil palm bait (U2) showed the maximum catch of 1670 grams.
