Respon Beberapa Varietas Padi Gogo (Oryza Sativa L.) Pada Beberapa Kadar Air Tanah
ABSTRACT
The need for rice from year to year continues to increase so it must be available in
large quantities. Rice supply is mostly dominated by lowland rice, but the area of
paddy fields has decreased due to land conversion. Alternative efforts in
increasing national food security by developing upland rice. Cultivation on dry
land is constrained by the availability of water and large fluctuations in soil water
content so that superior varieties that are drought tolerant are used. The use of
upland rice varieties can be the cheapest and most efficient technology to increase
upland rice production. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of
soil moisture levels in several upland rice varieties on the growth and yield of
upland rice and determine the water content and upland rice varieties that provide
optimal growth and yields. The study was conducted in the Experimental Garden
of the Faculty of Agriculture, University of Riau from November 2018 to March
2019.The treatment in this study consisted of two factors, namely the first factor
was the upland rice variety, which consisted of Situ Patenggang, Situ Bagendit,
Inpago 8 varieties and the second factor was soil moisture content, which
consisted of 50%, 75% and 100% field capacity.Parameters observed were plant
height, maximum number of tillers, number of productive tillers, age of flowering,
age of harvest, panicle length, number of pimpled grain, percentage of empty
grain, weight of clustered grain and weight of 1000 grains of grain. Observational
data were analyzed by analysis of variance and continued with the Least
Significant Difference (BNT) test. The results showed that the varietal factor used
had a significant effect on plant height, harvest age, flowering age, panicle length,
panicle number of grain, weight of 100 grains. The best upland rice varieties were
shown in Situ Patenggang upland rice varieties. The factor of providing soil
moisture content significantly affects harvest age, flowering age, panicle length,
panicle number of grain, grain weight of clusters, weight of 1000 grains.
