Pertumbuhan Bibit Kelapa Sawit (Elaeis Guineensis Jacq.) Di Medium Gambut Yang Di Pupuk Dengan Limbah Cair Pabrik Kelapa Sawit Dan Cendawan Mikoriza Arbuskular
ABSTRACT
Riau Province is classified as the area that uses peatlands for the
development of the most extensive oil palm plantations. The problem faced by oil
palm farmers in Riau is the availability of seeds that are of low quality and are
indicated by abnormal seedling growth. Utilization of peat soil as a nursery
medium faces many obstacles in terms of nutrient content and availability that are
less supportive for plant growth. One of the efforts to overcome obstacles on peat
soil is by utilizing palm oil mill effluent (LCPKS) and arbuscular mycorrhizal
fungi (CMA). LCPKS is a potential source of nutrients for oil palm and CMA
nurseries that play a role in increasing nutrient absorption in plant roots, so this
combination is estimated to have a good influence on the growth of oil palm
seedlings on peat medium. This study aims to see the effect of the interaction
between palm oil mill effluent and arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi and to obtain oil
palm seedlings that meet growth standards even though they are planted on peat
medium.
This research has been carried out at the Experimental Garden of the
Faculty of Agriculture, Riau University, Bina Widya Campus km12.5 Simpang
Baru Village, Widya District, Pekanbaru City. This research was carried out from
September 2019 to January 2020. This research was carried out in a factorial
experiment using a completely randomized design consisting of 2 factors. The
first factor is the dose of palm oil mill effluent (LCPKS) which consists of 4
levels and the second factor is the dose of arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi (CMA)
which consists of 4 levels. Parameters observed during the study were increase in
height (cm), increase in number of leaves (strands), increase in bulb diameter
(cm), root volume (cm3), root crown ratio, dry weight (g), percentage of
mycorrhizal infection (%) andnutrient uptake (mg/seed). The data obtained from
the observations were analyzed statistically with variance, the results of the
analysis of variance that had a significant effect were then analyzed further with
the Honestly Significant Difference (HSD) test at the 5% level.
The results showed that: (1). The interaction between the application of
palm oil mill effluent (LCPKS) and arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi (CMA) on peat
medium affects the parameters of increase in height, increase in leaf number,
increase in bulb diameter, root crown ratio, dry weight and nutrient uptake
parameters (P and K) oil palm seeds. Meanwhile, the parameters of root volume
and the percentage of mycorrhizal infection did not show any interaction. (2).
Treatment combination of LCPKS at a dose of 1.8 l/seed and CMA at a dose of 15
g/seed resulted in good growth of oil palm seedlings.
