Struktur Dan Regenerasi Mangrove Di Desa Rawa Mekar Jaya Kecamatan Sungai Apit Kabupaten Siak Provinsi Riau
Mangrove forest is an ecosystem found in tidal areas, which has a vegetation
structure with constituent characteristics such as trees, saplings, and seedlings.
The existence of illegal logging by local communities, sago factories close to
mangrove forests, encroachment of mangrove trees as raw material for charcoal
production, and the conversion of land functions have resulted in damage and
changes of mangrove forests which have an impact on the decline in physical,
economic and ecological function of the mangrove ecosystem. If an ecosystem is
damaged or disturbed, the surrounding ecosystem will be affected. Research on
the structure and regeneration of mangrove vegetation has been carried out in
Rawa Mekar Jaya Village, Siak Regency on January 20-January 29 2020. The
purpose of the study was to determine the structure and regeneration of
mangroves. Data were collected directly from the field using a survey method.
Determination of the research location was carried out by purposive sampling,
then data analysis was carried out. The results of the study found 7 mangrove
species namely Rhizophora apiculata, Bruguiera sexangula, Sonneratia alba,
Rhizophora mucronata, Heritiera globosa, Kandelia candel, and Xylocarpus
granatum. The regeneration status found in the mangrove forest in Rawa Mekar
Jaya Village is Enough, Good, and Newly Regenerated.
Keywords: Mangrove vegetation structure, Mangrove regeneration status.
