Karakter Polong Matang Serempak Tanaman Kacang Hijau (Vigna Radiata L.) Generasi M6-18-99-1 Hasil Mutasi Sinar Gamma
The production of mung bean (Vigna radiata L.) in Riau has a main
problem, namely low productivity so that it cannot meet the increasing demand
for mung bean for consumption and raw materials for the processed industry. The
limited number of new varieties contributes to the low productivity of mung bean.
One of the many ways to improve plant genetic characterist ics is radiation with
gamma ray. The M5 generation was found in the M5-18-99-1 population when
the pods matured simultaneously. Furthermore, character information is needed
from the appearance of ripe pods simultaneously per plant, in order to determine
whether these characters can be inherited or not. This study aimed to evaluate the
character of pods ripening simultaneously in mung bean plant population M6-18-
99-1 Kampar strain that had been mutated with gamma rays. This research was
conducted in the Biology garden, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences,
Riau University from August – November 2020. Planting was carried out using 6
mutant lines with a population of M6-18-99-1 and one local Kampar line as
control, each planted in different plots and planted at a spacing of 30 x 30 cm. The
observed characters are qualitative and quantitative characters in the generative
phase as well as the vegetative phase. The data were analyzed by means of the test
and DMRT using the SPSS program. The results showed that the gamma ray
mutation caused the synchronousity of mature pods of mung bean in the control
(M0) and the mutant population of the M6-18-99-1(16) generation was relatively
the same. The population of the M6-18-99-1(4) generation mutant and the M6-18-
99-1(12) generation mutant was also relatively the same. Based on the percentage
of Simultaneous selection, the best ripe pods were in the mutant population of the
M6-18-99-1(4) generation. Based on the percentage of Simultaneous selection of
the best ripe pods, the population generation mutant of the M6-18-99-1(12). The
population of M6-18-99-1(2) is a population of superior characters with the
characteristics of flowering age, number of pods per plant, number of branches on
the main stem, pod length, number of seeds per pod, number of seeds per plant,
and seed weight per plant. superior to all populations in this study.
