Profil Pasien Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia Di Rsud Arifin Achmad Provinsi Riau Tahun 2017-2019
Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia (BPH) is a histological diagnosis characterized
by the proliferation of prostatic epithelial and stromal cells. The cause of BPH is
influenced by the hormonal effect of testosterone on prostate tissue and various
other risk factors. The hormone testosterone in the prostate gland will be converted
into Dihydrotestosterone (DHT). DHT is then chronically can stimulate
enlargement of the prostate gland. BPH arises as a result of the loss of homeostasis
between cell proliferation and cell death. The prevalence of BPH is progressive and
increases linearly with age. Common complications that may occur are urinary
retention, urinary tract infections, hematuria, and bladderstones. This study aims
to determine the profile of BPH patients at the Arifin Achmad Provincial Hospital
