Bakteri Endofit Dari Daun Paku Laut Steril (Acrostichum Aureum L.): Isolasi, Uji Fitokimia, Dan Uji Inhibitor Α-Amilase
Endophytic bacteria are bacteria that live in plant tissues such as leaves,
roots, and stems without causing negative effects on plants. Generally, the
phytochemicals produced by the host plant are in line with those of the endophytic
bacteria. One of the potential secondary metabolites of endophytic bacteria is α-
amylase inhibitor which plays a role in hydrolyzing α-1,4-glycoside bonds in
starch polymer units. This study aimed to isolate and test the phytochemical
content of crude extract of endophytic bacteria from sterile leaves of the sea fern
(Acrostichum aureum L.) and to determine its potential as a α-amylase inhibitor.
The results of this study obtained 12 isolates of endophytic bacteria isolated using
nutrient agar (NA) medium. Twelve isolates of endophytic bacteria were found to
be positive for phytochemical tests containing alkaloids and saponins, the test for
steroid compounds was negative. The three selected isolates were DSB 1.1, DSB
3.1 and DSB 5.2 which resulted in the percentage of α-amylase inhibitors of
21.21%, 26.61% and 18.13%, respectively, by using a spectrophotometer at a
wavelength of 540 nm. These three isolates of endophytic bacteria can be
developed as an alternative to antidiabetic drugs.
