Distribusi Dan Karakteristik Habitat Belangkas Mangrove (Carcinoscorpius Rotundicauda) Di Pesisir Utara Pulau Rangsang, Riau
The degradation of coastal habitats into settlements, recreation areas or others has
increased the threat of the existence of mangrove horseshoe crab (Carcinoscorpius
rotundicauda), especially on the north coast of Rangsang Island. The aims of this
study were: to determine the distribution pattern of mangrove horseshoe crab;
characterizing the biotic and abiotic factors of the mangrove horseshoe crab habitat.
Sampling was carried out from March to April 2021 at five stations determined by
purposive sampling. Mangrove horseshoe crab was caught by making four plots of
120m x 20m, where the number of individuals caught would be used to determine
distribution patterns. Each plot measured abiotic environmental parameters in the
form of water and sediment parameters both in situ and ex situ. Measurement of the
characteristics of the biotic environment is carried out by measuring the density of
mangroves and recording community activities at each station. In general, the
distribution pattern of the mangrove horseshoe crab on the northern coast of
Rangsang Island is random. Environmental characteristics both biotic and abiotic at
each station will be discussed in detail in this thesis. In addition, a mangrove
horseshoe crab conservation area is also proposed on the northern coast of Rangsang
Island based on the results of this study.
