Gambaran Histologis Hati Tikus (Rattus Norvegicus Berkenhout 1769) Dengan Pemberian Ekstrak Alami Seledri (Apium Graveolens L. Var. Sylvester)
The liver is the main site of drug metabolism which is also known as
biotransformation. Any liver disorder can hinder normal body functions. Liver cell
damage can be caused, among others, by drugs, viruses, and various other chemical
compounds that have hepatotoxic power. This study aims to determine liver
improvement by presenting a natural extract of celery (Apium graveolens L.) to the
histological picture of the liver of rats (Rattus norvegicus) using 5 treatments, namely
Negative Control (Aspirin 1 time), Positive Control (normal), 3 treatments of celery
extract with a dose of 50 mg/kg BW (P1), 100 mg/kg BW (P2), and 200 mg/kg BW
(P3). The results obtained from the average percentage of cell damage were the highest
in the negative control, namely 56.22% and the lowest in the positive control at
20.33%. In the treatment of natural celery extract in treatment P1 with the highest liver
cell damage 46.41%, and damage to treatment P3 that is 26.47%. Liver cell damage
that occurs due to exposure to free radicals from aspirin. Allegedly, the antioxidant
content in celery extract can reduce liver cell damage.
