Eksistensi Nilai-Nilai Kearifan Lokal Dalam Festival Pacu Sampan Leper Di Kecamatan Batang Tuaka Kabupaten Indragiri Hilir

Indragiri Hilir Regency is one of the regencies in Riau Province. In
Indragiri Hilir Regency, a tradition has become an icon, namely the Pacu Sampan
Leper Tradition. The Pacu Sampan Leper Tradition is a tradition that was born
from the community itself about water transportation. The purpose of this research
is (1) to find out the background of the Pacu Sampan Leper festival in Indragiri
Hilir Regency, (2) to find out the values of local wisdom in the Pacu Sampan
Leper festival in Indragiri Hilir Regency, (3) to determine the preservation of the
Pacu Sampan Leper festival in Indragiri Hilir Regency. In this research, the author
used a qualitative method. Data were collected through observation, interviews,
and documentation. Data analysis used 3 components of analysis data reduction,
data presentation, and data verification. Starting from the Inhil community who
have relied on canoe transportation from the past. Inhil's natural condition, which
every year experiences tidal conditions, causes the rivers to recede and makes it
difficult for the canoe to move when the conditions recede. Not resigned with the
natural conditions, the Inhil people innovated by creating a sampan leper with a
flat bottom that could be used on mud. In the Pacu Sampan Leper Tradition, there
are several values of local wisdom. Regarding the preservation efforts, it is
obvious that the community has made a sampan leper and used it to become
crossing transportation that supports the daily activities of the community. In
addition, with the government holding the Pacu Sampan Leper festival every year,
this is one of the government's efforts to introduce and also preserve the Pacu
Sampan Leper Festival to the community.
