ABSTRACT
At this time the need for electrical energy continues to increase, power plants that use
non-renewable natural resources are more dominantly used to meet the increasing
demand for electrical energy. So renewable energy is a solution to solve this
problem. Biomass is a type of renewable energy sourced from living or dead
biological materials that can be used as a source of fuel in power plants.
Applications for the use of renewable energy sources in the form of biomass can be
analyzed at PT Tri Bakti Sarimas. Where this company uses fiber and palm shells as
fuel in the boiler. By using fiber and palm shells as renewable fuels in the boiler, it
can increase the efficiency value of the turbine. In this study using the Rankine cycle
method to get the efficiency value of the turbine. From the calculation of the thermal
efficiency used, it can be seen that only 33.78% of the power supplied to the boiler
can be converted into mechanical energy. In terms of efficiency in steam power
generation (PLTU), the rank for PLTU is 25%-50%. The turbine efficiency obtained
is 33.78% while the generator efficiency is 62,5%. The required fiber is 7200 kg/hour
and palm shells as much as 1800 kg/hour. The turbine power produced is 2987.97
KW and the electrical energy produced is 983 KWh.
