Upaya Pematahan Dormansi Biji Andaliman (Zanthoxylum Acanthopodium Dc.) Dengan Perendaman Air Panas
Andaliman (Zanthoxylum acanthopodium DC.) belongs to the family
Rutaceae which is a spice plant typical of North Sumatra. The multiplication of
andaliman sexually is still constrained because of the hard structure of the seed
skin so it is difficult to germinate. The study aimed to determine the effect of hot
water scarification on the increase in Z.acanthopodium sprout power, as well as
determine the optimal temperature and length of immersion to increase the power
of Z.acanthopodium sprouts. The study used a Complete Faktorial RandomIzed
Design (CFRD) with two factors. The first factors of temperature variation are
ordinary water, 60°C, and 100°C. The second factor of the length of immersion
time is 24 hours, 48 hours, 72 hours. The parameters observed are germinated
seeds, slimy seeds, moldy seeds, whole seeds. Morphological data from
observations is discussed descriptive. Slimy seed percentage data, moldy seeds,
and whole seeds were analyzed using ANOVA with SPSS program version 17.
The results of this study showed that the treatment of seed immersion with hot
water could not break the dormancy of seed Z. acanthopodium, no seeds
germinate up to 45 DAP. The low percentage of germination is due to the large
number of seeds that do not contain endosperm and embrim. Seeds that contain
endosperm as much as 58% and empty ones as much as 42%.
