Gambaran Penderita Karsinoma Nasofaring Di Poliklinik Tht Rsud Arifin Achmad Provinsi Riau Dari Tahun 2016 - 2020

Nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC) is a tumor which develops from changes in the
epithelial cells that cover the nasopharynx's surface. NPC can be caused by
genetic factors, environmental factors, or Epstein Barr Virus infection. Finding
the symptoms caused by NPC, such as nasal symptoms, ear symptoms, eye and
nerve symptoms, and symptoms of metastases in the neck, can serve to establish a
diagnosis. The purpose of this research was to collect data from patients with
nasopharyngeal carcinoma at Arifin Achmad Hospital's ENT polyclinic of Riau
Province between 2016 - 2020. This was a retrospective descriptive research with
a cross-sectional approach and a sample of 363 medical records. The large
percentage of NPC patients (68.9%) were male, with the oldest age group being
46-55 years (32.2%). The majority of patients who did not work (30.9%)
presented with the chief complaint of a lump in the neck (41.9%). Undifferentiated
carcinoma (73.6%) was the most common histopathological type with the highest
stage level, namely stage IVA (36.1%), and the highest distribution was found in
the city of Pekanbaru (28.1%).
