Upaya Pematahan Dormansi Biji Andaliman (Zanthoxylum Acanthopodium Dc.) Dengan Perendaman Air Kelapa
Andaliman is a typical Batak plant belonging to the Rutaceae family.
Besides being used as a spice, andaliman also has potential in the
pharmaceutical and food industries. Sexual propagation using seeds is still very
low. Andaliman seeds have physical dormancy due to the hard seed coat
structure so that the imbibition process cannot run. This study aims to
determine the concentration and duration of soaking coconut water and
their interaction on breaking dormancy of andaliman seeds and determine
the optimal concentration and duration of soaking coconut water to break
dormancy. The research was conducted at the Integrated Laboratory of the
Department of Biology, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Riau
University. This study used a Factorial Completely Randomized Design
(RALF) with two factors, namely the concentration of coconut water 0%,
25%, 50%, 75%, 100% and soaking time of 6, 12, 18, 24, 30 hours. Parameters
observed were germinating seeds, moldy seeds, slimy seeds, and whole seeds.
Some of the andaliman seeds used did not have an endosperm and an embryo
with a percentage of 59% and only 1 seed. which was able to germinate in the
treatment of immersion in coconut water with a concentration of 25% for 12
hours.
Keywords: Seed dormancy, coconut water, soaking time, germination,
