Pengaruh Kombinasi Abu Boiler Dan Pupuk Kalium Terhadap Pertumbuhan Dan Hasil Tanaman Kelapa Sawit (Elaeis Guineensis Jacq.) Di Lahan Gambut
ABSTRACT
Oil palm cultivation on peatlands is faced with various limiting factors for
its growth such as high acidity. Efforts that can be made to overcome problems in
peat soils to reduce degradation and restore peat soil fertility can be done by
giving ameliorant which can also increase oil palm productivity. One type of
ameliorant is PKS boiler ash which comes from burning palm kernel shells and
fiber which is not utilized by palm oil mills. Boiler ash contains 30-40% K2O, 7%
P2O5, 9% CaO and 3% MgO. In addition, boiler ash is also alkaline and suitable
for acidic soil types in terms of plant cultivation. By looking at the nutrient
content of boiler ash, economic benefits and environmentally friendly nature,
boiler ash is very good to be used as fertilizer. This study aims to find the best
combination of boiler ash and KCl fertilizer treatment in increasing the growth
and yield of oil palm (Elaeis guineensis Jacq.) on peatlands. This research was
carried out experimentally using a completely randomized design consisting of 5
treatments namely boiler ash 0 kg + 1.1 kg KCl, boiler ash 0.97 kg + 0.8 kg KCl,
boiler ash 1.85 kg + 0.55 kg KCl , Boiler ash 2.77 kg + 0.27 kg KCl and Boiler
ash 3.7 kg + 0 kg KCl. Each treatment was repeated 5 times and each replication
had 2 plant samples. Parameters observed were number of female flowers,
number of bunches, bunch weight and leaf chlorophyll. The data from the analysis
of variance were further tested with the DNMRT test at the 5% level. The
combination of boiler ash and KCl fertilizer has not given optimal results for oil
palm plants. The combination of boiler ash and KCl fertilizer only affected oil
palm leaf chlorophyll but had no significant effect on the number of female flower
bunches, the number of fruit bunches, and the average bunch weight.
