Uji Toksisitas Cuprum (Cu) Dan Cromium (Cr) Terhadap Kelimpahan Bacillaria Sp.
Abstract
Heavy metals are chemicals that can pollute waters and are toxic to
microalgae, such as copper (Cu) and chromium (Cr). Heavy metal Cu is an
essential heavy metal, but it is toxic if the metal concentration is high in water.
The study aimed to find out the toxicity of Cu and Cr as well as compare the
toxicity of Cu and Cr against the abundance of Bacillaria sp. in 3 parameters
namely, IC50, NOEC and LOEC. This toxicity test procedure uses the standard
method of the Asean-Canada Cooperative Program on Marine Science Phase-II
(ACCPMS-II). The results shown that the IC50-96 hours Cu and Cr values on the
abundance of Bacillaria sp. are 0.529 mgL-1 and 1.814 mgL-1. NOEC values of
Cu and Cr were 0.18 mgL-1 and 1 mgL-1. The LOEC values of Cu and Cr were
0.32 mgL-1 and 1.8 mgL-1. Based on the IC50-96 hour's test results, NOEC and
LOEC of heavy metals Cu and Cd were able to reduce the abundance of
Bacillaria sp., but heavy metal Cu was found to be more toxic, compared to
heavy metal Cr.
